Masterclass for Choral Conductors with Maestro Izaki Masahiro

He is keen on sharing his deep knowledge of different methods and styles with young talents encouraging them to seek after a multi-faceted approach and to become more perceptive in conducting both emotionally and technically.”

6th – 11th June – Tuition
11th June – Concert in Saint Thomas Church, Marfű
12th June – Concert in Calvinist Chruch, Tiszaderzs
13th June – Concert in Calvinist Chruch, Tiszaigar
14th June – Concert in Calvinist Church, Tiszaszőlős

Although our masterclass is not a competition, we will award two extra concert opportunities for the 5 best performing choral conductors to perform with the Béla Bartók Chamber Choir at the gala concerts in the regional capital (Szolnok) and in the capital of Hungary (Budapest).

Awarded participants will be asked to cover the extra accommodation (€350).

Dates, deadlines and fees

Applications are being accepted now and will be reviewed starting on 31st January, 2017. Applications received after 31st January will be reviewed and processed on a space-available basis. If the class is full, applications will be considered for Auditor status.

Full- participant

Early bird fee: €1,500 / Standard fee: €1,750 (including accommodation and full board)
Schedule: 6th – 14th June

Conditions:
• active participation at the choral conductor masterclass
• min. 30 minutes podium time daily coached by Meaestro Izaki Masahiro (a total of 180 minutes)
• piano rehearsal opportunities available daily
• conducting at min. two concerts during the concert tour
• auditor attendance is encouraged at the orchestra conductor masterclass

Full-participant for both workshops

Early bird fee: €2,400 / Standard fee: €2,800 (including accommodation and full board)
Schedule: June 6th – 14th

Conditions:
• active participation at the choral and orchestra conducting masterclass
• min. 30-30 minutes podium time daily (total 360 minutes conducting time)
• piano rehearsal opportunities available daily
• conducting at minimum two-two concerts during the concert tour

Auditor

€750 (including accommodation and full board)
Schedule: 8th – 14th June

Conditions:
• access to both choral and orchestra conductor masterclass led by Maestro Izaki Masahiro and Maestro Ertüngealp Alpaslan respectively
• attend presentations, workshops and concerts
• no conducting opportunity offered

Payment schedule

Once the evaluation of the applications have been completed, applicants will receive confirmation of acceptance. €250 non-refundable deposit is due within 10 days upon acceptance for full participants as well as for auditors. The deposit is part of the participation fee. The outstanding part of the participation fee is due by 31th March 2017. Participation is confirmed upon receiving the payment of the full participation fee.

Accommodation

Marfű Thermal Hotel & Spa***
Accommodation and full board is included in the registration fee.

Buffet style breakfast & dinner and a daily variety of set meals for lunch will be served. Twin rooms will be assigned and shared by two participants. Single room is available on request (Additional fee €400). All hotel and spa facilities are available for participants.

Transportation

Martfű is located 120 km from Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. We can assist with airport shuttles. Please inform us of your arrival time and flight company latest 12 days before the masterclass begins.

Language

The language of the masterclass is English

Recording

All participants will receive a personalized video of their rehearsals and concerts performances. Participants are welcome to bring their own recording device as well.
